Ultralight Tent Oven

Independent, ultra lightweight, efficient and ecological, this unique development by OUTDOORWERK makes it possible to travel in cold weather.

This tent oven weights only 1.5kg and it is the lightest on the market with which cooking can be done simultaneously along with tent heating. When packed this tent oven needs small space in your backpack. You can extend the outdoor seasons comfortably or camp in snow.

100% Swiss made, over 90% within 10km.

A tent with 15 people can also be heated. Also ideal for families and groups or outdoor courses that want to eat or teach at the warmth. It can be carried together with a tent made of cotton or breathable nylon/polyester fabric on a pulka (snowsled), bicycle or other means of transport. In a group of 3-4 persons or more, the material can be carried on foot in a backpack. Anyone who knows about tents knows what a difference such an oven can make outside.

The tent oven is...

  • Independent: fuel is readily available and doesn’t have to be carried around.

  • Lightweight: it weights less than two kilos: 1350g - 1940 grams

  • Efficient: you can cook and heat your tent with the same source.

  • Ecological: by using biological material you burn renewable fuel and cook CO2- neutral, because you are only releasing gases originating from trees.

Pipe choices

Complete weight with 3m stainless steel pipe: 1940g

Complete weight with 3m titanium pipe: 1590g (the pipe is 350g lighter than in stainless steel pipe with same thickness!)

(Example: Tent stove with 1.7m titanium pipe weights 1.45kg)

The following choices are available:

  • stainless steel pipe: 3m, 2.5m, 2m, 1.7m or 1.5m long

  • Titanium pipe: 3m, 2.5m, 2m, 1.7m or 1.5m long (kinks easier than stainless steel, needs more caution when rolling)

  • diameter chimney pipe: 70-72mm

Special pipe lengths available

The length of the pipe depends on the size / height of the tent or the exit of the pipe. It is advisable to choose the pipe as long as possible, because the oven will burn better and the sparks less damage the tent (especially with spruce). From our experience three meter pipe length is ideal for a pyramid tent with height of 3m. Then the pipe protrudes enough, about 50- 60cm outside the tent (see film). In case of smaller tents and larger protrusion, a two-meter pipe must be fixed outside. Otherwise the load on the tent material is too big, or there will be to much risk in storm weather.

Assemble the chimney

Rolling on the first time should be done very carefully, in order to get as little wrinkles in the sheet as possible. This is best done by three people. All three people roll and hold the pipe until all steel cable rings are overlapped. After the first firing, the pipe remembers the opposite shape. The second assemble is much easier done.

IMPORTANT

Anyone who plays with the idea of buying such a tent oven should deal with the subject in detail. This oven must only be used in a tent with breathable fabric and good ventilation! Do not use the oven while sleeping (carbon monoxide)! In addition, a fireproof material (aramid, kevlar) is necessary for the pipe outlet.

OUTDOORWERK will give you more detailed information. A demonstration of the oven can be arranged.

There are several different tent suppliers on the market. OUTDOORWERK will soon be able to offer a pyramid tent as shown in the film.
